Guidance Team: Student Advisers and Study Skills Tutor

The Guidance Team offer advice and guidance to all students in the School of Computing and Engineering. We are here to help students get the best out of their University experience. 

We can support them to develop academic study skills and personal and professional skills that will benefit them now as a student as well as in the future.

We offer confidential appointments and can talk to students about how to manage their studies if personal issues affect their ability to study. Here is a summary of our individual support

You can book 1-1 appointments with our Study Skills Tutor via the Student Support Office.

  • Health and wellbeing, including mental health

We work closely with central Student Services and external services and may refer you on if appropriate.

You can refer students to the service and we will work together to provide relevant support.

Students can book an appointment via the Student Support Office. We also run a 15 minute drop-in service for students, Monday to Friday in term time, 12.15 – 14.15 in SJ1/09. Students are asked to go the Student Support Office (SJ1/01) to book on the day.

Guidance Team Presentation Programme

We have a range of presentation and workshops available for delivery to groups of students in timetabled sessions to cover transition personal skill, study skills and academic skills.

Disability support

We are the School’s Disability Co-ordinators. If you are concerned about a student and identify they may  additional arrangements, speak to us about the support available to students with a disability.

International student support 

We arrange specific support for International Students and offer advice and guidance on settling in to life in the UK and Huddersfield.
