The purpose of this policy is to set out the responsibilities of the University and other people affected by this policy in promoting freedom of speech while ensuring the University remains a safe and nurturing environment for teaching, learning and research; and to provide information and guidance on how to recognise and deal correctly with a freedom of speech issue.
Responsibility for ensuring that events organised by the school comply with this policy shall rest with the Dean or nominee, who shall be referred to as the Responsible Person in the rest of this policy.
The responsible person/champion for this school will be Gill Firth. If you have any queries or any concerns over an invited speaker and completing the External Speaker Log, please contact her via: g.m.firth@hud.ac.uk
The policy can be found here: University Freedom of Speech and External Speakers policy
The External Speaker Log to use can be found here: University’s External Speaker log
If your external speaker is for a course or module session and is part of normal teaching business, then instead of the University Log we ask staff to complete a local log. This is under shared documents on the School SharePoint site and can be found here: https://unishare.hud.ac.uk/ce/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx
Please complete this form in as fully as possible. If you have any queries please contact Gill Firth.
