Placement Unit
The University of Huddersfield's School of Computing and Engineering is recognised as being one of foremost providers of well qualified graduates in the UK.
We are committed to providing a professional learning experience and focus on preparing our students for careers in their chosen discipline. All our undergraduate courses include an optional year in industry and are supported by our Placement Unit, a former winner of the UK’s Best Placement Service title at the RateMyPlacement Awards.
Each year we place around 200 students in companies such as NHS, Microsoft, Cummins and Vauxhall, as well as a large number of smaller local and regional businesses.
Many of our students return from their placements with sponsorship and the offer of a permanent job from their host company, and this is reflected in our excellent graduate employability record.
- Based on students that went onto a work placement in 2013/14, 88% achieved a 1st or 2:1 upon graduation.
- Based on students that went onto a work placement in 2013/14, 88%* went onto secure graduate level employment or graduate level further study.
We are one of the top 10 University's in England for paid work placement years in industry.
