You should normally receive feedback on your assessments within three teaching (i.e. term time) weeks of the submission deadline of the assessment. Feedback should help you understand why received the mark and what you can do to improve your performance in future assessments.
If you have any queries of are not happy with the feedback you receive, you should contact the person who assessed you for tutor feedback. If the matter is not resolved, you should refer the matter to the relevant Informatics or Engineering Subject Area Leader. Meetings may be arranged through the Student Support Office.
NOTE: It is important to note that until the marks have been agreed by the Course Assessment Board (CAB), any marks you are given will only be provisional. These take place in June and your official results will be released online soon afterwards.
You may view the University Assessment and Feedback strategy online.
If the work you submit is not of a high enough standard to achieve a pass, the tutor may give you a tutor reassessment. Please note that some modules do not allow tutor reassessment. You then have time to make good this piece of work and submit it before the Course Assessment Board. Your work will then be marked and if it is still not a high enough standard you will be referred in the work and this result will go to the assessment board to be confirmed. If you have made amendments to it and it is now a pass you will only be given a maximum of 40% if it is a graded module.
A tutor reassessment will not be offered if you fail to submit a piece of work for the original assessment date.
Although you will receive feedback on your assessments during the course of the year, until the marks have been agreed by the Course Assessment Board (CAB), any marks you are given will only be provisional. Once the marks have been confirmed by the CAB, the University publishes the formal results for all students on-line and you can access your results via the University's Student Homepage (www.hud.ac.uk/students) and clicking on the My Results button.
It is your responsibility to make sure that you access your results promptly, you will find details of when they will be released online at: halo.hud.ac.uk/NSResults2/.
This is particularly important as there are time limits for the submission of referred work or appeals – and any delay in accessing your results may mean that you miss the chance to complete referral work or ask for a review of your results. If you can't access the results on line after the publication date, you should contact the Student Support Office to report your difficulties.
It's a good idea to print off a copy of your results – then, if you have any queries, you can take your results along to the Student Support Office or your tutor and ask for further clarification.
If you want to request a review of your published results, there are limited grounds on which you can do so – and these can be found at www.hud.ac.uk/registry/regulationsandpolicies/studentregs
